About Me

First and foremost, thank you for showing an interest in my site and for taking the time to drop in and say hello.

Secondly, I would like to thank my friend of 30+ years, Jayson Olson. It was his interest that inspired me to put together this website. Thanks buddy!

About Me:

When it comes to “me” there isn’t a whole lot to tell. I’m a single parent that has basically raised my two sons (Keith and Tim) on my own and I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received from my family, specifically my Mom and Dad.

From the time I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors. Much of my childhood was spent exploring the creek  behind Mom’s condo in San Juan Capistrano.  Many fond memories are linked to those times and some life-long friendships were made.

Another contributing factor to my love of the outdoors was the time I spent in the Boy Scouts, Troop 12 SJC.  We were a very active troop that would take monthly camping trips and we would often go backpacking as well. I traveled through the ranks, reaching Life Scout before other teenage interests drew me away from scouting. I truly do wish I had stuck with it and received my Eagle Scout, but there’s nothing I can do about that now.

I discovered off roading around my senior year in high school and in the years immediately following, I took a number of trips with my buddy Jerry. Wheeling opened new doors and got me back outside. I also started doing something that I hadn’t done a few years; camping.  It was great to be getting back to nature again and I never would have guessed that my old silver Toyota 4×4 would have introduced me to something that has brought me so much enjoyment over the years…

Something else I really enjoy is nature and landscape photography.

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been interested in photography. My Dad taught me how to use his old Canon SLR when I was fairly young and as soon as I entered high school, I enrolled in my first photo class. And my Senior year I even joined the yearbook staff as a photographer.

It is this love for photography that, in part, drives me to do this site. I want to share with everyone, not only the written stories of my off road adventures, but the visual ones as well.
